Launched in 2024 by Warren George and Sara Maxwell (more below!), Napleswise is a website dedicated to providing accurate, reliable and freely-accessible information to anyone visiting the city of Naples and the region of Campania in Italy.

We are from the UK originally, having met in 2009 at our then regular office job (selling insurance!) and lived in Bristol until making the jump to move to Italy in 2019.
But how did we go from selling insurance in Bristol UK to living in Italy and founding this website?

In 2013 we made our first trip outside of the UK together (and Warren’s first foreign adventure ever!) and decided to visit Rome. Where we are both huge history enthusiasts with a passion for good food and drink, Rome was an obvious choice.
Over time we learned through subsequent visits the best times to visit, what to see and do, where to eat and drink and much more.
It was through the course of these adventures in Italy that we met Elyssa Bernard, founder of Citywise LLC in 2019. Shortly after meeting we began working together, providing our skills as content creators and digital marketers with a passion for all things Italian to help grow Romewise (and more recently launch Florencewise).
Around this time we had started to talk seriously about moving permanently to Italy and were presented with a unique work opportunity in June 2019. We moved to Veneto in northern Italy where we were fortunate enough to live and work in the grounds of the incredible Monumental Garden of Valsanzibio, a Renaissance-era estate in the Venetian countryside. If you are ever in the area we would whole-heartedly recommend visiting this slice of paradise less than an hour from Venice – let us know if you go!
After getting to grips with life in Italy we moved to Rome in 2021. Ever since that first trip in 2013 we had always talked about living in the Eternal City and with numerous clients based here, we made that dream a reality.
Since then we have been based in Ostia, Rome’s coastal neighborhood, but have spent as much time in Campania as possible with extended stays in Naples, Sorrento, Vico Equense and more.
Over the years we have learned a lot about this incredible region and Napleswise was born out of a desire to share this information with travelers like you. We understand the frustrations that you can encounter traveling somewhere like Naples – it wasn’t that long ago in the grand scheme of things that we didn’t know anything about how to visit Campania.
We’re here to help you before and during your trip, and hope you’ll fall in love with Naples and Campania in the same way we have!
