The exhibition, created through collaboration between the MANN and Naples’ Public Prosecutor’s Office, explores the illegal trade in cultural heritage and its devastating impact.
Divided into five sections, it examines the history of collecting, trafficking routes, and anti-smuggling efforts. It highlights major legal cases and the issue of forgeries, concluding with a reflection on lost, unrecovered works.
On display are 600 diverse artefacts—from pottery to coins—spanning the Archaic Age to the Middle Ages, from Southern Italy and beyond.
